Delivering renewable energy and technology alongside architects

‘Building Services’ is no longer a commodity, to be delivered at lowest cost. A building’s performance and on-going operation is crucial.
It is at the forefront of every client’s mind when selecting or working with an architect.

GreenAct has developed a new way of working – a method of collaboration between architects and engineers; providing those capabilities which further differentiate your offering to new and existing clients.

The GreenAct approach takes down professional and trade boundaries by designing for technical optimisation and for ease of installation. Our unique collaborative approach puts clients and their aspirations at the centre of all we do. Working together, we design out potential problems before they manifest themselves and design in optimal in-life operation – aiming for a ‘right-first-time-onsite’ to ensure predictability of project cost and timescale.

Traditionally, each trade and profession have its own role and responsibility. Each has been a link in somebody else’s chain. But today, as hybrid systems supersede these distinctions, we need a new approach in which each discipline is integrated into a holistic vision.

In other industries, such as automotive, it has long been a way of working that came to the fore from Japanese ‘best practice’. The basic idea is that problems are more easily solved if you get everybody who has a say in that resolution to work together in closer co-operation to achieve the outcome, based on a common understanding of the goal. The conventional way was to pass things on to the next team for them to do their bit, and then hand it on to the next, and so on. Easy to see why collaboration and a common focus is a better approach. This is the motivation and the inspiration for our new approach to building services.

The GreenAct approach is underpinned by a common language that architects and engineers can easily recognise. Its basis is the RIBA Plan of Work, which identifies the stages of progression from ideas to a finished building. Our stages of work are in lockstep with yours, not left to an after-thought just before construction.

We work in support of your project leadership, adding depth and expertise in the design and installation of renewables, building automation, micro-generation, and energy storage, so you can focus on the architecture.

And it is our difference that helps you to differentiate yourselves from your competition.
